About CHW
Canadian Hadassah-WIZO (CHW) is Canada’s leading Jewish women’s philanthropic organization. Founded in 1917, CHW is non-political, volunteer driven and funds a multitude of projects for children, healthcare, and women in Israel and Canada.
With a dynamic membership of 10,000, CHW has centres in over 40 locations across Canada. CHW’s National Board of Directors embodies visionary leadership from coast to coast.
The Care Your Support Provides
The funds raised from the CHW Ottawa Walk in the Park will help support The Terry Schwarzfeld Ottawa Daycare Centre, located in Acco, Israel. The centre provides daily care to over 57 children (infants, toddlers, and preschoolers) who come from a variety of backgrounds. Some of them are referred through a welfare referral program, as their families are in desperate need of this assistance.
The Terry Schwarzfeld Ottawa Daycare Centre also provides home support services. A team of professionals, including a psychologist, an occupational therapist, and a speech therapist, works individually with all children (and their families) who have a learning disability and/or behavioural issues. The team establishes a treatment plan to assist with cognitive, motor, emotional, and psychological issues, thereby providing the necessary preparation for each child’s future.
